WE MADE IT! It was a very long drive from Medford, Oregon to Whidbey Island but we made it. We hit traffic in Tacoma just after 3 pm and it was pretty much bumper to bumper for the next FOUR HOURS! I-5 was a parking lot from Tacoma all the way through Seattle and past Marysville. We felt like poking our eyes out at times because so close yet it was taking a painfully long time inching along.
The kids started screaming when they saw the jets at the entrance to the Naval Air station and they kept yelling out all the things they remembered about Oak Harbor. As we came into town they saw their school and so many other familiar places. It was a joy to see the happiness and excitement finally.
We pulled into City Beach campground around 7 pm and Aunt Kathy and Uncle Butch were there to greet us with their huge fifth wheel. Aunt Kathy had warm spaghetti and garlic bread waiting for us. We were dead tired and really hungry so we really appreciated her taking care of us like that. The kids eventually settled down in front of the fireplace (yes, I said fireplace in a trailer!) and started watching Air Bud. Sharon & Aunt Kathy went up to see the house briefly. More on that later.
It’s typical Washington weather right now with rain, fog and unusually cold temperatures. We hear that it is supposed to snow over the weekend!

We have also spent some time with the rest of our Oak Harbor family: Grandma Peg, Craig, Tracy, Jim and Julie. We saw so many of our church family when we went on Sunday and had such a warm, loving reception that Sarah said, "I feel famous!"
Although it is so good to be back in Oak Harbor, we will miss our family and the life-long friends we made while in Maryland.
We have a thousand things to do and a million boxes to unpack so we’ll try to get more news on the blog when we get a chance. So grateful we made it safely with no major mishaps. We were held safely on God’s hand all the way across country and thank all of you who kept us in your prayers for a safe journey.

I'm SOOOO glad you made it! And love your blogs! Sharon, what a ton of work you've put into this blog!! Amazing woman you are, obviously you get your energy from the love of your fantastic family!! The kids sound so excited to be back, as do you and Billy ~ Can't wait to see you soon.
