Here we are in Flagstaff and our first break of the trip. We pushed through yesterday through severe head winds and cross winds. We stopped and took some pictures on the red rocks around the meteor impact crater. We were driving for almost 10 hours but we all voted to not stop in between New Mexico and Arizona because the idea of getting to sleep in this morning was on everyone's mind. Sarah actually fell asleep at the restaurant/dinner last night. We were all exhausted.
Woke up to blue sky and not a cloud in sight. Even though it was below freezing here last night, it is 70 today. We headed out to Mary's Cafe and had the "World's Largest Cinnamon Bun", eggs, green chile, pancakes and biscuits and gravy. We are quite certain we will skip lunch and not eat until dinner! The boys are cleaning the Surburban inside and out and the girls are taking showers and fixing our "pretty hair". We've got several loads of laundry going here at the KOA and once the boys get cleaned up we plan on a hike in the Coconino National Forest. Our good friends, Gene and Diane Barner will drive up from Phoenix and be here by dinnertime. We will all head to the Grand Canyon tomorrow.
Thank you for the birthday messages! Aunt Connie beat everyone to the punch with a text that came in at 5 am our time. (don't worry, my phone was turned off!) Then a great birthday song from MT, Gavin and Landon that made me cry. A text from Katie (good girl!) and email from mom. My mom and Bill's mom Dotty each prestaged cards and presents. Thank you. Ecards from many friends as well. We will celebrate with a great dinnet at Bart's Steakhouse tonight. They have a singing revue and singing waiters and waitresses. Should be lots of fun with good friends!
We will be here until Sunday morning when we really start heading "home". We keep hearing about how beautiful the house is with so many new things like new paint, new flooring, new carpeting, and lighting. We don't know what we would do without Aunt Kathy and Uncle Butch who continue to go above and beyond the call of duty to help us. They have done so much to make sure the house is ready including accepting our household goods shipment next week. THANK YOU and we can't wait to see you guys.
We love the comments you guys are leaving for us! Keep them coming! Love to all.
