First Day of School...Again.

Tyler had his first day of school today. It was fun to watch the kids reconnecting. Most of them have known each other since they were four years old in preschool at Oak Harbor Christian School. Tyler has great teachers. Some new ones and some very familiar faces. We went out for Mexican tonight to celebrate. A group of kids head over to a local church on Mondays after school for "hang time" and they all begged for Tyler to go. I fell right back into my carpool duties as I picked up several of them and delivered them home.

After 12 pages of paperwork (6 a piece) and writer's cramp, the girls were registered at Oak Harbor Elementary. The fourth grade classes are almost full and the teachers can only legally take one more child per class which means the twins are being forced to separate. Sarah spent most of the day crying on and off. Caitlyn is handling it like a real trooper. My heart breaks for Sarah but I also know they cannot stay in the same classroom forever. It's the "forced" separation that worries me the most. Their principal says their test scores place them in the ACE program for accelerated learning which is at a different school but since it is full, they will stay at OHE. This worries me as well if they tested for gifted and talented but cannot participate in it. Bill and I have decided to see how things look by Friday but there is the possibility that we may move them back to 4th grade at Oak Harbor Christian. Ms. Fakkema would love to have them and she has 14 kids in her class versus the 28 at OHE.

Today was all about children and school for me. Dropped another $50 on school supplies that we already bought once this year. Another trip to Wal Mart tomorrow to pick up supplies for Tyler.

Needless to say, my bedroom is still waiting to be made beautiful. Maybe by Christmas. One can only hope.

I just enjoyed every word and pixel of your blog!
My thoughts and prayers were with you on this pilgrimage...just my realtime flight following was a little slow. Candidly my experience and interaction with blogs is a little short.
Considering the population that knows you and loves you vis a vis the comments posted, I may not be the only one.
We're so glad your trip was such a great adventure...one you'll all look back on with great pleasure.
Look forward to seeing you in June.
Love,
Jim n Laura
